Biography
Kalandra N. Wheeler was born and raised in Longview, Texas.  Her father and
mother, Clarence and Yvonne, a small business owner and a long-time educator in
the public school district raised her.  She is the second of three children, with an
older sister Toni and younger brother Clarence Jr.  Although some may not view this
as relevant, she is the Aunt to Kyia, “who shall never go unmentioned.”

After graduating from Longview High School in 1997, Ms. Wheeler went on to get her
A.A. from Tyler Junior College and her B.S. in Political Science from the University of
Houston.  Following graduation from the University of Houston, she went on to
receive her law degree in 2005 at the University of Arkansas School of Law at
Fayetteville.

As a native Texan, she returned to further her career in the legal profession.
Currently, she is a defender of freedom and a protector of constitutional and
statutory rights, as a lawyer who represents citizens.  In the past, she has juggled
school and work, doing everything from coaching young girls that want to make the
dance team, making sandwiches and flipping burgers, and changing oil at Jiffy Lube.
Additionally, she has interned with the Federal Public Defender’s Office, completed
an externship with a Federal Bankruptcy Judge, and represented indigent people as
a student attorney in both bankruptcy and family law matters.

She has compassion and understanding for people coming from all walks of life.  This
compassion has grown throughout the years based upon her work experiences and
the relationships she has had the opportunities of forming.  She shares the concerns
and needs of everyday people.

Kalandra wants the citizens of District 92 to know that:

  • She will work hard for them

  • She believes honesty and integrity are essential leadership qualities

  • The people of Texas should always come first
